Dictation ideas - week 1

When you are learning your spellings, it is important that you can use them in a sentence too. The best way to practise this is to write sentences, making sure all of the words are spelled correctly.

Here are some sentences that you could try writing for your spellings this week. How many of the words can you spell? Which ones do you need to continue practising?

Group 1
We need to freeze this water to make ice.
Have you been to the big, green house?
The queen is here.

Group 2
My teacher gave me a treat.
It is not easy to speak English all the time.
Why did you leave the house?

Group 3
Please be careful with my beautiful, new toy.
Her kindness when I was upset made me feel wonderful.
The painful injury caused me a lot of sadness.
